Nicki Minaj.

Nicki Minaj is my favorite rapper. My reasons being is that she is completely open about her being homosexual, she is a female, she is black, she is pretty, she works to make her songs relatable, and that she made it to the top with hard work and her own persistance.
Onika Maraj (Born December 8, 1984) known a Nicki Minaj is a female rapper from Southside Jamaica, Queens, NewYork. She grew up in a difficult family situation,With a father on drugs and a struggling single mother. Despite her hectic environment, Minaj went on to graduate from LaGuardia High School in Manhattan where she studied singing and acting. After she graduated she dedicated all of her free time to pursuing a potential music career. Nicki Minaj started off singing, from background vocals, to hooks for local rappers. Minaj wanted to “stand out” more, from the average dime-a-dozen young aspiring singer and began writing raps. Nicki Minaj was then noticed on Myspace by Dirty Money CEO Fendi. Who signed her and put her on the front of his Dirty Money Label, and his The Come Up DVD. Lil Wayne was the man who really gave her her start, he noticed her and really gave her the press attention that she needed to really get up in the music buisness.
Nearly a year later, with Lil Wayne's help, Minaj released her second cd, which is the one that was really noticed by the public, titled Sucka Free. Controversy surrounded this as Nicki paid tribute to rapper Lil’ Kim by posing with her legs spread for promotional posters. She describes it as something to “pull people in”, so that they would listen to what she had to say. Nicki Minaj graced the pages of the July issue of the XXL magazine giving a brief overview of her life up to that point in time. Nicki then began her rise to the top with her own, hit making, songs that featured "well-known" rappers, such as Drake and Gucci Mane.
I feel Nicki is a very successful woman. She can inspire others with her "story before the fame" and her struggle to the top.

I recieved most of this information from http://nickiminajfans.com/bio. I found this site to be very helpful in really getting to know more about Nicki and i would recommend it to anyone else who wants to know anything more about her other than what i have posted above.

Justin Bieber.

How do you feel about him?
I think that he sends a positive message to the young adults and children. His lyrics are cute and non explicit. I though, am not a fan of Justin Bieber. He is too young, I feel, to be the living the lifestyle that he is. I think that at his age he should be still showing the importance of going to school although he is famous. But you do not hear about his schooling in among all the other media you hear about him. So, although I think he has positive lyrics, I do not feel as though he is sending a message that is as positive as it could be. I think he should be stating how important school is, he should be trying to do interviews that are directed to children and younger teens. I know he is sixteen  but if he wants to go as far as to be a famous singer I think that he can go as far as doing everything the right way. Be an extremely positive role model for kids his age and younger. Justin is an attractive person and I think so far he is going well, but their comes a time when even Bieber needs to step it up.

yet another artist who defeats the sterotype. DMX!!

dmx has a song called "lord give me a sign"
it is a very positive song.
it speaks how sometimes he forgets that God is on his side. a quote from his song that i like would be "im a big boy now, but im still not grown."
it is a song about him wanting signs from God. he is going through alot of temptations and he feels as though he is trapped in his own mind waiting on the lord. "stay right beside me, the devil tryin to find me."
i feel as though there is nothing negitive about this song. i take it as being very inspiring. honestly when i am upset i listen to this song so my mind and body can remember. that He is always by my side and He will not give me more than i can handle.
i must admit that dmx has other songs that make you think.. "where did this song come from?"
he has another good, meaningful song called slippin. but other than that he just has negitive songs about partying and so forth. i love the 2 meaningful songs that he has but i must say Dmx, as an artist, i am not so fond of. his voice is great, his words, not so much. but i definatly recomend checking out Slippin and Lord Give Me a Sign.

i found a rap artist that beats the sterotype with his song, Not Afraid. it would be eminem.

insead of the usual artist that makes doing drugs and sex sound fun, eminem has this song about him becoming sober. i am proud of eminem for taking risks and doing this song because there are people who are struggling with drug abuse within themselves and in their home. and this song is amazing/great motivation for those people. eminem himself has struggled with drug abuse so this is not just a song. it is full of meaning. my personal favorite lyric is when "haters can make like bees with no stinger and drop dead."
meaning that the people that doubt him are of no concern of his and he is extreamly focused on himself. i love this song. i think the beat and the lyrics are very up beat and inspiring. What do you think??

Lil Wayne; his addiction; his music.

the following information was recieved from  http://www.yorapper.com/lil-wayne-speaks-on-his-addiction-to-cough-syrup/

Lil Wayne Speaks on His Addiction to Cough Syrup
Posted on: March 1, 2008 55 comments so far (is that a lot?)
Lil Wayne Drinking Cough Syrup at Birthday Party
If you’ve ever seen Lil Wayne perform or for that matter on tv in general, you’ll know he carries with him a styrofoam cup. What’s he drinking? Promethazine and Codeine, better known as cough syrup and the same concoction that killed Dj Screw and Pimp C. Lil Wayne spoke to MTV about his addiction to sizzurp. Here’s what the idiot had to say,
“But I’m going through that same sh– with my friends, with my mom. Everybody wants me to stop all this and all that. It ain’t that easy. Do your history, do your research. It ain’t that easy — feels like death in your stomach when you stop doing that sh–. You gotta learn how to stop, you gotta go through detox. You gotta do all kinds of stuff. Like I said, I’m a selfish-ass n—a. I feel like everything I do is successful and productive. It’s gonna be hard to tell me I’m slipping. It’s hard to sit and tell a n—a ‘Stop.’ ‘F—, how can we tell this n—a to stop when every f—ing thing he do is successful? This n—a is making progress. He just went and talked to kids and that sh– was amazing.’ Feel me? So what am I doing wrong?
Let me do me. Everybody’s got their thing. Why focus on me? Don’t compare me to no one. Don’t compare me to no one who has passed, and why they passed. I can walk out this b—h right now and get hit by a bus. Don’t judge me. You wanna judge me, put on a black gown and get a gavel. Get in line with the rest of them that’s about to judge me. I got court dates every other month. It’s me against the world — that’s how I feel.”
Denial is not just a river in Africa.

(along with the comments above there was people who left comment on the, listed above, website.)

i am here to tell you my opinion...
is lil wayne really setting a good example for the children and future generations?
like i have told you before, i listen to rap but i am still against lil wayne's decisions. becoming addicted to cough syrup is so stupidd. why would you even begin abusing it in the first place? i mean if your going to be addicted to something at least let it be something understandable, like alcohol, not that i am suggesting it. but that is so stupid. and his reply was just as bad. a summery of what he said was, stay out of my buisness and dont compare me. he could of at least come up with a reasonable explanation for his addiction. i mean, as parents would you really want your kid to look up to a rapper who is addicted to cough syrup and is seen very often with the cup? NO!! i think by  enhancing lil wayne's success we are suggesting the ok for abusing cough syrup. what do you think?
Do you think that his songs are good enough to ignore his addiction?
What are his lyrics really talking about? Have you took the time to really listen and understand one of his songs or do you just sing along without an idea of meaning?

Rap.

hello., alot of people have alot of diffrent views on rap music. How negitive it is for the children and so forth. and i must agree that rap is negitive for the children. it talks about sex, drugs, and other illegal behaivor. but there are loop holes when it comes to listening to rap music. there are artists like kanye west who send a positive message, of course, other than when he talks about white girls. but i think it all really comes down to who is listening to the music and if you are willing to be influenced. because personally i listen to rap music and i dont do drugs, or almost any of the negitive things they rap about. so thats my opinion. whats yours?
and next time i will begin discussing about certain songs and music videos and the occasional music genre. i will usually be discussing things about rap music with sometimes, another genre.
